SAP ABAP - A STRONG CORE FOR SAP DEVELOPMENT

ABAP (Advanced Business Application Programming) is SAP's proprietary programming language used to develop business logic, reports, integrations and extensions for SAP systems. It was designed specifically to enable efficient bulk data processing within SAP business applications. It remains a key part of SAP's core technology - especially where highly customised solutions are required.

  • SAP module extensions (e.g. MM, SD, PM, FI)

  • Reports, forms and printouts

  • Background logic for user interfaces (e.g. SAP GUI or Fiori)

All SAP solutions - from R/1 to SAP S/4HANA - support customization through ABAP. While platforms like SAP Business One, SAP Ariba, and acquired products such as SAP Concur and SAP SuccessFactors are primarily built using other programming languages, ABAP continues to be essential when these systems integrate with a core SAP ERP or SAP S/4HANA environment based on ABAP.
